Jared Whiles
Jared Whiles began his gymnastics career for a small club in Midland, TX in 1987 when he was 9 years old and competed in the JO gymnastics program throughout his youth. As a sophomore in high school, he joined the Permian High School gymnastics team where he earned 6 individual and 2 team State Championship Titles over 3 years.
After high school, Coach Whiles spent 2 years competing in the NCAA for the United States Air Force Academy. While at USAFA he broke the school pommel horse record and qualified to the NCAA Regional Championships. He then transferred to Texas A&M where he was the gymnastics club president and contributed to 2 NAIGC team National Championship Titles. He completed his BS degree in Computer Science at the University of North Texas in 2002 and spent 6 years working in the private sector before beginning his coaching career.
In 2008, Jared was hired as the head gymnastics coach at his alma mater of Permian High School in Odessa, TX. Coach Whiles spent 4 years coaching at Permian where his boy’s teams earned 3 District Titles and 3 Regional Titles. His teams all qualified to the State Championships where they finished in 6th, 4th, 3rd, and 2nd place. His gymnasts also earned 31 individual top 10 State Championship finishes during his tenure.
In 2012, Coach Whiles was hired as the 1st Head Boy’s Gymnastics Coach for Chisholm Trail High School. Under Coach Whiles’ leadership the boys Ranger Gymnastics team has qualified to compete at the State Championships in each of the past 4 seasons.
Coach Whiles maintains an active leadership role on the governing board of the Texas High School Gymnastics Coaches Association as the state webmaster and as a regional delegate on the Men’s Rules Committee.
