Phil Schwartz

Phil Schwartz is the head girls and boys golf coach. Prior to opening Chisholm Trail, he taught and coached in the Arlington ISD at Arlington HS. Phil began coaching there in 1999. He also coached the golf teams at Nolan Catholic HS from 1987-1989 and again from 1993-1994.

Coach Schwartz played golf in high school at Nolan Catholic and was on the Varsity team all 4 years. He was the individual State Champion in TCIL both his Junior and Senior years. His team won the State Championship both years as well.

Phil's golf continued as he attended Texas Wesleyan University. His final event in college was playing in the NAIA National Tournament his senior year in 1985, where he finished 16th in the nation.

Phil then took a job as an Assistant Pro at Ridglea CC in Ft. Worth and worked there learning the golf business. But the golf bug still itched, so he decided to play professionally. He was in the right place at the right time, as there was a new tour developing. It was the Tournament Players Association (it is now the Web.com Tour). He played for two years full-time on that tour. He also played on The Dakotas Tour, The Fairway Tour, and other events since then. He still plays to a 0 handicap.

As a coach, he has coached an individual TAPPS State Champion and two team championships while at Nolan Catholic. At Arlington, he took teams or individuals to the Regional tournament 12 of the 14 years he was there and coached 1 player who went to the State Tournament in Austin.

Since being here at Chisholm Trail, he has taken players to the Regional Golf Tournament every year. The 2018 season ended with a special time as Zach Willard became the first golfer from CTHS to qualify for the State Tournament.

Phil has taught World History, US History, Economics, and now American Government.

Phil and his wife Dana live in Ft. Worth.
